The Ceremonial Collection traces the sacred choreography of union—how a community prepares, blesses, and witnesses the joining of two lives. Across these works, ceremony becomes a living thread: woven through garments, carried in flowers, and embodied in figures who stand not as individuals but as vessels of cultural memory.
The Bride marks the moment of transformation. Adorned in symbolic color and floral abundance, she stands at the threshold between her past and her future. Her faceless serenity allows her to become every bride—an emblem of hope, continuity, and the blessings carried forward through lineage. Her attire, like the others, is a tapestry of inherited meaning: each pattern a prayer, each bloom a promise.
The second painting, El Compromiso, turns toward companionship and preparation. Two figures, surrounded by radiant flowers and a spiraling sun, embody the quiet labor of blessing. Their garments—zigzags, diamonds, and woven gradients—speak to the harmony created when community gathers to ready the heart for transition. Here, ceremony is an act of tending: arranging flowers, invoking light, and holding space for what is to come.
In the third painting, The Ceremony, the Bride and Groom present maize, cacao, and lillies to the Shaman—offerings that nourish both body and spirit. Their faceless presence invites viewers into a shared identity, one rooted in gratitude for the earth and the ancestors who cultivated it. Their textiles, alive with geometry and color, echo the woven histories that bind generations.
The upcoming painting, El Pretendiente (the Groom) will complete this ceremonial arc. He will stand as the counterpart to the Bride—an embodiment of devotion, readiness, and the masculine role within ritual tradition. His presence will balance the collection, offering viewers a fuller vision of union: two figures shaped by community, guided by ancestral symbols, and brought together through offerings, textiles, and sacred intention. Together, these works form a visual liturgy of becoming. They honor the rituals that prepare us, the blessings that surround us, and the love that transforms us. Through vibrant color, faceless universality, and the language of flowers and woven pattern, the Ceremonial Collection invites viewers to witness how culture, spirit, and community converge in the sacred act of union.
